Texas producers ride population wave with a nod to valued team members

The Texas Aggregates & Concrete Association has launched a campaign to build awareness of the aggregates, concrete, cement and associated industries, while spotlighting employees who make production and delivery possible. #WeRTexas factors population growth of approximately 1,400 people per day and these material figures 10 years out, as measured against present annual shipment levels: 15 million to 50 million more tons of aggregate; 3 million to 10 million more yards of ready mixed; and, 1 million to 3 million more tons of cement.

Early campaign message.

“Few people realize how much material is required to build the things they take for granted every day as they go about their busy lives,” says TACA CEO David Perkins. “We launched WeRTexas so that Texas lawmakers, residents and businesses are aware of how important these industries are to the quality of our lives, how the materials are produced and that member companies are the ones who deliver these essentials to the community—every day, safely and reliably.”

In addition to the next decade’s material demand trajectory, research supporting #WeRTexas reveals additional startling numbers as the Lone Star State approaches 2050, when TACA members stand to see present annual demand plus 124 million to 179 million more tons of aggregate; 25 million to 36 million more yards of ready mixed; and, 7.5 million to 11 million more tons of cement. — www.tx-taca.org/wertexas/
