Plant Mixers

Concrete Products surveys the broad range of equipment offerings for manufactured or packaged dry mix concrete and ready mixed production. Engineers and manufacturers continue to focus on improved safety and maintenance aspects, along with energy efficiency in planetary, pan, twin shaft and ribbon blade models.

ADVANCED CONCRETE TECHNOLOGIES

ACT marks its 30-year anniversary with an upgraded high shear, countercurrent planetary mixer. The Wiggert HPGM V9 features improved performance, durability and operation over prior series. The model has three options for batch water addition: weighed, volumetric, and injection from side walls, the latter resulting in reduced wetting of surfaces for shorter clean-up time. New protective coverings shield components from impact, debris and water. Enlarged mixer access doors have electromagnetic safety locks. Among additional enhancements are mixer tool durability, standard soft start control for lower AMP draw, and flush mounted bolt heads to reduce concrete buildup. — Advanced Concrete Technologies, Greenland, N.H., 603/431-5661; www.concretebiz.com

SCALE-TRON

Robust cycle capability equips the Ocmix RG twin-shaft mixer to save on cement for a given quality of concrete, compared with tilt, drum and pan mixers. Standard features include extensive paddle coverage, extra-hard wearing liner plates, positive shaft seals that can last for the life of the mixer, plus easy-access, single-day shaft and bearing replacement. Mixer sizes range from 2 to 10.5 yd., yielding 80 to 427 yd. of compacted concrete per hour.

Ocmer planetary mixers feature a one-piece gearbox with hydraulic coupling in the larger sizes. The mixer body is wider than comparable models and its high-back, scooped paddles ensure thorough mixing. Paddles are certified 600 Brinell ni-hard cast iron; floor is 18-mm Hardox steel. Mixer sizes range from 0.5 to 6 yd., yielding 10 to 120 yd. of compacted concrete per hour.

Both mixers include optional piggyback feed systems, allowing the critical parts of the plant to be selected and delivered as pre-assembled units. This reduces down time for upgrade and ensures successful installation plus trouble free, optimized performance.
